Nissan Frontier Pro 4X
It has a M226 rear axle. Which on this truck is leaking gear oil out of the axle shaft seals.
Nissan, in their infinite wisdom, does not sell such a seal, or even the bearing and retainer behind said seal that must be pressed off to replace the leaker.
No, you have to buy a $300.00 axle shaft assembly. PER SIDE.
Apparently its enough to take a truck from possible used car lot fodder, to WHOLESALE in a hurry. Sort of a shame, its a 2013 with 50k miles and besides that its a set of new tires away from being a nice truck.

I have a related vehicle (2005 Pathfinder), and while it’s been a good truck for the last 11 years, Nissan clearly made some questionable decisions in the design of it...

Robble robble the only compact/midsize/whatever pickup with full-time 4wd is the GMC Canyon (and 2017-up Chevy Colorado) robble robble.
Colorado Z71 or Canyon SLE or higher with the automatic locking read diff is even better.

I hate non-servicable parts.
It was one of the big reasons why I was in favor of replacing our ‘08 Edge, a U-joint in the driveshaft was going out and it would have to be replaced with a $400-$900 driveshaft assembly.

Toyotas can do it too;
Extra fun when the technician scratches up the housing digging our the old race and then the entire axle is garbage..

We had to do one in an AWD Avenger (which I didn’t know existed) and it was close to $900....
...and on backorder for 2 months.

Are those semi-float axles? At least you can just replace the seal, if your technician doesn’t attempt to remove it with a grappling hook.

Semi-float..
It’s less common on the second gens, way more common of first gen Tacomas and 2nd/3rd gen 4runners..

An AWD Aveneger sounds like the worst car ever. But, IIRC they shared a platform with the Jeel Patriot, so I guess it was easy enough to offer.

Nissan is known for doing stupid shit like that. My 2004 SE-R ended up with engine damage that would burn about a quart of oil ever 1K miles due engine design where the pre-cat was installed too close to the engine. The pre-cat would then degrade to where pieces would get sucked back into the cylinders and cause damage basically leading to a new engine. That was the reason I had to ditch mine while it was still running.
